Sumie Lecture, Demonstration and Workshop

Effective for smooth communication in workplaces and team building. 

Experience Sumi-e, Japanese traditional black ink painting! You can capture the essence of Zen and Japanese aesthetics.

Do not worry if you have an aversion to painting. You will learn how to paint stroke by stroke, so it will be easy to follow. No need to copy my sample painting. Instead, try to create your own unique composition.

I use Zoom to share my slide show to explain the historical and religious backgrounds of Sumi-e and its authentic painting techniques.

Then, you will learn how to apply traditional painting techniques using a calligraphy pen (Pentel Fude Brush Pen Medium (XFL2L) - around 3.5 USD, find it online).

In addition to a PC camera, I use a smartphone camera to show my brush strokes up-close to teach how to move your pen in a step-by-step manner.

Lastly, we will see each other’s paintings over Zoom to share creative joy.
